Sustainability reports

As part of our Sustainability Charter and Strategy, we report annually on key performance indicators. The reports also offer information on sustainability initiatives, including our Precast REAP scheme and the concrete sustainability strategy initiative.

Sustainability Report 2020

Annual performance report based on 2019 data.
The 2020 edition of “Sustainability Matters” reveals that our Charter 2020 targets for factory energy consumption, carbon emissions, factory waste, LTIFR and coverage by quality & environmental management systems, have all been met one year early.

Sustainability Report 2019

The 2019 sustainability matters tracks the precast sector’s 2018 sustainability KPI’s, set against our targets for 2020 and the KPI baseline of 2012. Last year, we made further progress toward these 2020 targets. Our manufacturing carbon emissions dropped by 30% since 2012 (43% since 2008).

Sustainability Report 2018

This report highlights the precast industry’s Key Performance Indicators for 2017 set against our targets to 2020 and our previous KPI figures for 2012. Despite the recent expansion of our Charter scheme, we are well on track to achieve most of our sustainability targets, including our target to reduce carbon emissions by 20% and reduce waste to landfill by less than 0.5 kg per tonne.

Sustainability Report 2017

Since 2008, the precast sector has reduced manufacturing carbon emissions by 26%, mains water consumption by 31% and factory waste to landfill by well over 95%. All but one of our Sustainability 2012 Targets were achieved successfully and our member companies continue to make good progress towards the 2020 targets.

Since 2008, the precast sector has reduced manufacturing carbon emissions by 37%, mains water consumption by 14% and factory waste to landfill by well over 90%. All but one of our Sustainability 2012 Targets were achieved successfully and our member companies continue to make good progress towards the 2020 targets.

Sustainability Report 2009

This report highlights the continuing commitment of MPA Precast and companies in the precast industry to managing impacts responsibly and achieving progress on a broad range of sustainability issues; a commitment that is reflected in the number of companies that have now signed up to the Sustainability Charter and demonstrated in the practical actions being taken by Members and Associate Members as showcased in the 2008 Sustainability Awards, and quantified in the production of KPI data.

This report shares an initial set of indicators which provides an overview of the precast industry, and demonstrates that it is being managed responsibly. It is envisaged that the set will be expanded in time to include all of the sustainability issues facing the industry.
